Teaching Naturalism and Conservation
Seeing as the natural environment as we know it is coming to an abrupt end (thanks Al Gore), and seeing as it's our generations fault (thanks SUVs), I believe it is our responsibility to try our best to teach our children about nature and conservation (while we still can). With this in mind, I took the girls on a little nature walk during an unusually sunny and warm February day (thanks SUVs, no really thanks).
Mae Mae enjoyed playing peek-a-boo behind the evergreen trees and eating bark. Ava, who perhaps better understands the complexity of her generation's plight, but does not have the vocabulary to adequately express herself...beat the tree with a plastic baseball bat.Just to think, 50 years ago that bad would have been made from wood and probably from that tree.
